entering the land of the gods

a study abroad journey

About Me

This blog was created in the fall of 2012 as I prepared to embark on my undergraduate study abroad journey to Hyderabad, India! At the time, I was a Junior at Nebraska Wesleyan University contemplating my call in life, questioning my religious beliefs, and yearning to experience the world.

At the time, this is how I described myself:

I grew up in Sioux Falls, SD with two amazing parents. My brothers, Mark & Peter, are my best buds. After graduating from Washington High School in 2010 I moved to Lincoln, NE to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Currently, I am a junior at NWU pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts with a Religion minor. I would love to work in ministry in the future. I have held internships in Children’s Ministry, worship/music planning, and am now exploring interfaith ministry.

I am a proud member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority (Beta Alpha Chapter). My dear little squirrel, Earl, will be traveling with me as a reminder of my amazing sisters back home!

In my spare time I enjoy baking, shopping at the farmers market, picnicing, playing Bananagrams, reading Cooks Country, and watching movies. 🙂

If I could do ANYTHING with the rest of my life I would travel. Hence, my journey begins…

I spent 5 months studying at the University of Hyderabad, traveling around the country of India, engaging in lots of religious conversation, and documenting my experiences on this blog. It was an experience of a lifetime that allowed me to better understand religion and my own beliefs as well as discover how I may fit into this large globe that we call earth.

Upon returning to the United States for my Senior year of studies (Fall 2013), I adapted this blog to fit the needs of students wishing to study abroad in India.

Since then, I have taken a call as a Global Mission Fellow of the United Methodist Church and am currently living an d teaching in China. You can read about my experiences here- Taking the Call.
